We are making some changes to make better use of our volunteer time. We will be cutting back on the frequency of potlucks and using that time for other types of programming. As always, we could use more volunteer help to keep things going. If you are interested in helping the time bank continue to flourish, please reach out and let us know.

Transaction Blitz

Remember, we would love to see 344 members file a transaction before our picnic in August. At the picnic, we will have prizes and recognition for people who have helped the most.

While this blitz is about service, it's also about the process of recording our transactions, about giving and receiving credit for our community-building work with each other. Many of us are helping out friends and neighbors all the time -- if your friend is in the time bank, you can record time credits for things you'd do anyway.

Please consider donating something to use for prizes and thank you's at the picnic. Contact us at kctbinc.com to let us know if you have something to give.

We will be trying some new things to communicate with our members. We try not to rely on Facebook, but we know that not everyone reads these newsletters (in spite of how endlessly charming they are!)

Hoursoft has features to create groups so we can use it to create focus areas for crafting, potlucks, gardening, or other interests, so we plan on making more use of that.

The potluck schedule will cut back from monthly to quarterly. Several of our most active committee members had to pull back recently, and attendance has been down. We hope this makes it easier to commit to coming to our events. 

Our next event will be the summer picnic at August 15th at Fred Fuller park. After that, we will have Friendsgiving in November. We will schedule a winter and spring event for next year.

If you haven't filled out the potluck survey, please consider doing so now so we can continue to fine-tune the event to meet the community needs.

Regular Events

We have several regularly scheduled events in addition to extra activities on an ad hoc basis through the year. Our potluck will now be roughly quarterly instead of monthly. We will see you in August at the summer picnic. We also have a craft night usually on the last Thursday of the month where we work together, laugh, and share our skills. We find that more people respond to requests when they know each other, so come out to these events and socialize with fellow timebankers.

If you have yet to formally join our community, we also have regular orientations. While many events are open to non-members, you have to attend an orientation and formally join in order to participate in exchanging services through timebanking itself. So if you haven't joined us yet, please do so soon! Our regular orientations are on a bi-monthly schedule.

Tech Open House

From 1 to 3 on Sunday, April 26th at the Kent Free Library, bring your laptops or other devices and your questions about the Hourworld software.

Monthly Craft Night

Thursday, April 30th, 2026, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Standing Rock Cultural Arts at 300 N. Water Street, Suite H., Kent, OH 

Join us for a fun low-pressure evening of working on projects and socializing.

Annual Plant Swap

I am delighted we will continue with our tradition of a plant swap on Saturday, May 16th at the Fred Fuller overflow parking lot. The rain date will be on May 30th. Please mark your calendars.

Orientation

We are now moving to a bi-monthly schedule to make better use of our volunteers' time. The next one will be June 14th at the Kent Free Library.
