Happy August, Time Bank!

To make a long story short, Wizard Weekend went well, I met a lot of people on coffee dates, and now we are rocketing towards our next event, our summer picnic. It's super hot and I don't always want to move, but summer is closer to an end than I want it to be. 

Wizard Weekend

This event was a huge success for us. We made 70% of our annual budget on this single day. This is enough to pay for our liability insurance, our single biggest expense as a volunteer-run non-profit corporation. It was a blast to see how much fun the kids had. 

Regular Events

We have two standard monthly events, in addition to extra activities on an ad hoc basis through the year. Every month, we have a community pot luck on the second Friday of the month where we bring food to share with each other. We also have a craft night on the last Thursday where we work together, laugh, and share our skills. We find that more people respond to requests when they know each other, so come out to these events and socialize with fellow timebankers.

If you have yet to formally join our community, we also have orientations on the third Sunday of most months. While many events are open to non-members, you have to attend an orientation and formally join in order to participate in exchanging services through timebanking itself. So if you haven't joined us yet, please do so soon!

In August, we will have a summer picnic instead of our regular pot luck.

TimeBank Summer Picnic

Saturday, August 23, 2025 3:00pm to evening, Fred Fuller Park ~ Shelter 4601 Middlebury Road, Kent, OH 

We will have a basket raffle, lawn games, giant jenga, face painting, water balloons, picnic food, and whatever wonderful dishes you choose to bring. Since we'll have stuff for the grill, maybe you can bring side dishes and baked goods (bear in mind food safety in the August sun.) Ben Secaur will run games, so we are in for a treat. We are hoping for a huge turnout to enjoy summer together.

Basket raffle!

We have fifteen baskets filled with goodies to raffle off at the picnic. You don't need to be there to win. You can see all of the options at https://www.kctb.org/2025/08/05/basket-raffle-at-the-annual-picnic/.

We are still working on finalizing the baskets and putting the finishing touches on them, so they will be even better than they look now.

You can purchase raffle tickets at the picnic or online ahead of time. Also, if you record at least five time credits’ worth of transactions in the months of July and August, you can get a free raffle ticket. Online, all tickets are $2 per ticket. During the picnic, you can get five tickets for $6. You don’t have to be present to win.

We also need two volunteers to help the day of the picnic, so please raise your hand if you can do that.
